Essex Valley School's Art classes recently visited Glassroots in Newark, NJ. At Glassroots, students were exposed to the ancient technique of mastering flame and heat to mold glass. Glassroots staff provided an educational experience that incorporated math, physics, chemistry, and the history of glass into an inherently creative activity. Our students were able to integrate a number of skills and concepts needed to create bowls, drinking glasses, jewelry, and vases. Many were able to bring a small token of their experience, such as glass bead necklaces, home with them. They had an excellent time and can't wait to visit Glassroots again!
