Essex Valley School now offers a course in Landscape Design. This program will integrate hands-on experiences, as well as academic study in all aspects of landscape maintenance, design and construction, architecture, greenhouse/nursery operation, integrated pest management, machinery operations, turf management, and gardening. Maintenance instruction may include such areas of focus as mowing, pruning, and trimming, while design and architecture instruction may involve such topics as building patios, rock walls, and decorative planting. In addition, students will study greenhouse operations including gardening, seeding, composting, and focused areas of botany and horticulture. Students will have the chance to put newly learned skills into practice by utilizing the school's own grounds and turf areas, and will develop a comprehensive knowledge of the vast array of opportunities within this career field.
